A day of art and entertainment Dizzee style while doing something good for the youth of Springfield, Illinois.
Spelled wrong of coarse, but this was my first attempt at a fundraiser. Some may even call it the first ever Black Sheep Fest. It was an amazing Day!! We rallied the community, with a lot of help from Ted Kelyon, Roger Smith (who years later became the best man at our wedding), and Billy Reno for pulling me into local wrestling, I met all the right people to make it happen. The local art community that was Manifest Destiny, The hardcore scene that was and STILL IS the Black Sheep Cafe, and the underground local indy wrestling bad boys of 3cw put together a day of entertainment, arts, and music that everyone was proud to be a part of. And if memory serves, which it usually doesn’t, (maybe roger or kevin can clear this up for me) we raised 500.00 $ to help fix the air conditioning system at the cafe, but I think it ended up going to rent or something, doesn’t matter, they are still here and a staple in the Southtown area, THATS what matters.
Editors Note: Originally published in ’05 or 06, the blacksheep shut down several years ago but look for “Dumb Records” as the new go to for teen activities these days.
